haha, I looked at the bag yesterday when we were there and i didn't see that... I bet it is saying it is approved for use on wood framing?
Tom! we had a blast too!
Good catch Rick. I dont know for sure but I shall check into it. I guess worst case, if I run out of pellets I can dig out a chunk of insulation and keep on cooking.
There's a mental image! - "Hope we get the meat done before we run out of insulation!" -

Heres a shot of what I plan for the shelves, drip pan, and diffuser plate.
I wont have racks in all the slots at the same time, just hopping to be versital enough to help out.
What did you use for the auger and the pellet hopper? I've been toying with building a pellet smoker, but have had one heck of a time finding drive to feed it. Guess I just don't know where to look...
Nothing I like more than to kick back with a Zima and a Virgina Slim reading 50 Shades of Grey with DCman (The Czar).
I had the 180 degree digital control and had the auger picked out thru frank. BUT. Then i changed my mind. I am now in the works of doing a little R&D on a gravity feed pellet chute, like a stumps coal chute but for pellets. It could be a challenge but i think i can make it work, i hope.
Please elaborate... I don't see a heat source - then again my eyes aint what they used to be...
Is the pipe coming up from the bottom in front of the masonite a fuel chute?

The bottom 12 inchs is steel sheet and the funny looking pipe is my pellet chute. The top part with the stack is just card board for testing. Filled the chute lit the fire which is right above the large cup at the bottom. From there the smoke travels thru a transfeere tube to the cook chamber. It held 120 till i opened it up and started over.

NOW I'm starting to form an image of what's going on in these pics - had a hard time getting my bearings.
I was about ready to jump in the truck and head over there - it was frustrating me!
Thanks for posting the pics tom - please keep 'em coming - it's getting interesting.

Sorry bout that Rick. At first i was going off the chart small and was gonna fuel the rig with gravity fed pellets....but i wasnt getting a clean burn.
So i am now going with gravity fed charcoal. The weight is considerable more, but i will deal with it.
As i get time i will play with the whole pellet ordeal.
No worries!
... but I was starting to feel like a pregnant woman laboring under a misconception!
