I'm not sure about the kits but I used the larger latch and opted for taller legs, I have been happy with both. I especially like the taller legs which means no leaning over to look inside or loading/unloading, my thought was that irregardless of leg height they take up the same amount of floor space. I do however think one should be cautious of how high they go being careful not to exceed a safe width to heighth ratio resulting in a top heavy/tipsy smoker.

Yeah definitely a great idea to make the lags taller & a shelf(but not too tall). I just used a small latch, but I had to make a spacer for the striker.
i'll get the bigger slam latch for sure i like the look. i want to make it bigger must resist that since the cut file is now available. I sort of wish the single pan had a cut file now. What do you think Frank??
