Double pan heat diverter

Post by Roamingbirdbbq » September 3rd, 2017, 4:26 pm

I have noticed my bottom shelf is hottest, to be expected. However, wondering how many use heat diverter above transfer tube and was it worth it?

I haven't experimented with anything, but I think it would be easy enough to make different sized/shaped diverter plates that sat on top of transfer tube with feet to create an air gap between the transfer tube and diverter plate, this way you could experiment without making permanent modifications to your smoker. Just a thought

I like that idea. I have one above mine it also acts as a drip pan since I have a FB under the cabinet also. I would use some 1/8" and put small holes in it in the center and larger ones towards the edges. Remember you don't need to catch the drippings.
