Calculating volume propane tank

Post by stijntje113 » September 21st, 2017, 5:09 am

I have just introduced myself and already have some questions.
I have filled in the calculator to calculate the volume of the propane tank I've got and it came with a volume of 280 gallon.
http://planetcalc.com/5185/

If I compare the dimensions with some specification I've found on the internet it "should" be a 250 gallon propane tank.

When I'm calculating the Firebox Size % Diff with a 250 gallon tank I'm fine with about 115% but if i take 280 I'm at 95. Fire box is planned to be 29x29x27.
I don't want the firebox to be higher because of the placement on a trailer.

What is your vision on this?

Fuel tanks are typically bigger than their rating to allow for expansion . Post the dimensions of the tank and we can check it.

Complete length is about 86 and diameter is 31.5.
The two end are both 8 long.

I come up with ~260 figuring 3/8'' walls.

Thanks for the feedback!
I will keep my firebox size. I think it will be sufficient.
