Baffle plate question

Post by Big Nicky » September 24th, 2017, 5:04 pm

Hey guys, probably a dumb question but should the BP be level or slightly pitched towards the drain? Tia

Level, most of the grease & fat will burn off, but any that doesn't, you can just scrape it out or towards the drain pipe. :kewl:

Thanks now I've seen the plates done with the angle itiron down the middle and just a flat piece of steel. Is that all just personal preference?

Yeah, & some people put a slight V bend that runs down the middle. Personally, I think that flat is better cause the BP radiates heat to make the CC even & I think bends & angles will counteract that(probably only very slightly, but that's enough to mess with my OCD, lol) :D

:yth: flat plate level front to back and left to right works every time and no where near as much work to build as those fancy BP's. Put a 2'' grease dam on the end with a 2'' drain and you'll be set.

I agree flat and level, if it's on a trailer you can cause the fat to move towards the drain after cooking while things are still hot just let the tongue down a little. But flat makes it very easy to clean.
