Hello Newb Here

Post by Romad » December 4th, 2017, 6:51 pm

Hello,

Glad to be here to learn and ask for advice. Been smoking for years now on store bought smokers...felt it was time to see if I could build my own. I have no experience welding and cutting so this is a big step for me. I live in WA and real pits are few and far between here, as a matter of fact you can rarely find any for sale. Decided if I was going to step up my game, I needed to build my own.

Found some tanks nearby for cheap so I picked up 3 for $95...so now my journey begins...

I am originally from Texas; however, when I retired from the military I got a job here in WA (besides, my daughters were in high school and I didn't want to move them since that is all they ever knew).

Attached a couple pictures of the tanks....my plan is to learn and make mistakes on the 120 gal propane tank then move on later to the big ones.

Welcome aboard!! There's plenty of knowledge and experience around here for sure. You could probably find a set of plans for those tanks over at the sister site smokerplans.net or you can use the calculators to design your own.

and Welcome to the crew...
You are spoiled for choice with all those tanks. Good luck with the build.

Welcome to the group
