Got her seated!

Lessons learned in smoker building: build the trailer first, then build the smoker onto the trailer.

Because it ain't fun loading a 1200lb hunk of steel onto a trailer without a forklift. [emoji16]Image

Like the attached pic?

If so, how effective was it? Image

IMHO, I would vent it out of the top to help airflow. However, there are some here who have put it out the side with no adverse effects, sooooooo, personal preference I suppose.

All that steel adds up in a hurry, that's for sure. From the look of those fenders I'd say you were putting 20'' wheels on it! =))

[emoji23][emoji23]never thought of 20" wheels... now you've added another item to my list of smoker design considerations.

That axle does look weak. You might consider a 2,000 lb one.And with the smoker on one side, you might also consider a larger leaf spring on that side.

First......I shall offer a late welcome to the forums.

Second, I think the pit looks awesome. I would also agree that the weight adds up so fast its not even funny.

Better pics of the smoker. Upcoming additions: finish framing the trailer, add Square doors on the horizontal chamber, new trailer fenders, fabbing my dampers between each chamber, etc. It never ends, the list goes on..

Looking good.
As far as the extra trailer space, here are some suggestions.
You could build some type of wood storage.
Maybe a cowboy cooker or some other sort of grill.
Maybe a discatta.
Of course you will need some where to put a cooler or three.

Discadas and cooler space are a must have. I like the propane cook stations that some guys put on the tongue of the trailer.

Any suggestions on the type of burner?

Another pic of cabinet doors. How should I calculate the increased cook chamber volume? I'm dead set on lengthening the Firebox by 6", but I want to be sure before. Image

How thick is that cabinet steel? 3/8"- 1/2"?
You've had Rodcrafter in your ear haven't you, LOL.
Definitely gonna need to beef up the axle and springs!
Can't wait to see it finished and with the obligatory Q-view! Keep up the good work.

Lol. Cabinet steel is 3/8". I bought a 5 x 10ft sheet for the firebox and needed to use the remainder. A 5200 lb axle and springs are a definite.

First off, great build and sorry I'm late to welcome you aboard!
as far as the squared off door size goes, PeteMazz made a calc for that under his calculators. I think you're gonna see a lot of volume increase with your door arrangement. might hafta add some firebox.
