Any issues on the small doors trying to come off without you wanting them to?

Well we finally solved the saw dilemma. I bought an Evolution Rage3 dry saw as everything looked as if it would be an amazing addition to the shop. Out of the box it cut amazingly. 45s were spot on and it made short work of the straight cuts. But the blade didn’t last long at all. I’m not sure if i was cutting incorrectly or if the blade just couldn’t take the amount of cutting I was attempting but it failed. I thought i would give it a second chance and put a new blade on it but I could not find a blade anywhere locally for it. So off to Northern Tool I went to get their small bandsaw. I had a $20 coupon so it made it the same price as the Harbor Freight saw. So far it’s doing its job and not complaining. I got half the tubes cut tonight before the great NC blizzard of 2018 hit. Hope to get the rest done tomorrow.

I think Frank got one of those saws a couple years ago. He will probably chime in here soon.

I used chunky gate hinges that I welded on & you can just lift the door up to remove it, heavy duty & good for taking the door off if I ever need to (haven't yet) & normal hinges for the chute & FB, make sure you get hinges that don't have a nylon sleeve (house door hinges have this to stop squeaking)

Not to deviate from your Smoker and as others have commented that is a nice table...
What was the width of the plate you used for you surface and the spacing you used between the plates...
Can you include a link to this table design to get some of the questions which will come to mind later

Some stuff going on outside of building the smokers so missed a couple days this weekend to make any progress. Got to the shop today to find 2” of Water throughout the shop. Evidently a pipe had busted sometime this weekend. After three hours of sweeping Water out of the shop I was able to finish welding up the fireboxes.

Thanks all for the encouraging words. And a big thank you to Weldun for answering all of my private messages.

Today we finished cutting tubes for the frame and started stuffing insulation. When we were done with insulation I thought I would tack a side up. Ended up tacking them all up.



Tomorrow evening we should have three frames ready for sheet metal.

Just a tip... don't put the back (chute side) top tube in at this stage. Without it in place it makes putting the chute/firebox assembly into the frame a whole heap easier. Once in place and secured you can put the tube in and weld it up.

I made sure to leave it and the small pieces off until we get the firebox fitted.



Everyone keeps saying my welding table is too tall. I think my helper is just too short.

I had ordered a couple sets of casters and none of them fit the plates I had cut for the table. So when I ordered the casters for the Mini I just ordered 4 extra swivels for the welding table.
