Welcome to the crew!
What part of Texas? I'm from Odessa.
It’s just your average horizontal offset smoker with tuning plates. Plan on using 20”x3/8” pipe that’s 42”long for the chamber. Same pipe for the firebox thats gonna be 20” long. I’m trying to figure out how big the inlet is going to be from the fb to cc. Also how long my stacks needs to be. I have a 4” pipe that’s 36 inch long with a 90° elbow on the end. Just not sure how short to cut it.Big T wrote:Welcome aboard!! Sketch up a rough drawing and let us see what you have in mind.
Wow, I really appreciate your help. Would like to keep the firebox at least 20”. I have access to a lot of wood that’s about 18” in length. I figured the extra space would aid in letting it breath.Squiggle wrote:Ok, so I ran the numbers for you & to get the right FB size you’ll need the drop down to 17" long & that will put you at 106%. Next is your stack, at 4" diameter you should make it just under 22" long (that is measured from the to of the CC, not where the elbow comes out of the CC). Last of all, the second pic tells you how to setup your throat to get optimal area.

Yea, I’m going to building a traditional offset. I think Squiggle input the wrong dimensions on the calculator also.Dirtytires wrote:I'm not trying to rain on the parade but it was my understanding the calculator is only for a reverse flow. Juanc mentioned offset which I interpreted as traditional offset. Maybe we should clarify.....or am I wrong and it doesn't matter?
