Almost finished 60 Gallon Patio

Post by bswisher » January 12th, 2018, 2:32 pm

Well, thanks to Big T, Pete Mazz, AJFoxy, and a few others I have just about got this thing finished. Still need to add some expanded metal on the 2 extra shelves I framed up and add my FB vent and do something with the bottom of the cart. I went ahead and got her painted with a couple of coats or Rustoleum High Heat Satin. The build couldn't have gone any better and was pretty easy thanks to you guys pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks again fellas.

Thought maybe i should post a few build process pics.
This what i used for my stack, it weighted 22lbs.. lol
8.jpg
I used some 14ga and a couple old pushrods to make my damper and control.
9.jpg
I went ahead and built a firebox basket to make it easier to load
5.jpg
I also used some expanded metal and closed the ends off on the bottom rack so noting falls down into the baffle plate gap etc.
7.jpg
I did 2 slide out grates.

Yep, that is a very neat build. Nicely done.

I know it doesn't count until I show some Q-view so here it is. Picture doesn't do the ribs justice, they came out great.

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Got bored yesterday while doing some pulled pork so I added cup holders. lol It cooks like a dream, 12 hour cook and used about 10lbs of Royal Oak lump and a bag of Apple chunks. Guessing the chunks were 5lbs +-. Does that sound about right for a smaller smoker like this? temp really never varied more than maybe 10 degrees all day.

I would say that fuel consumption is amazing. Mine probably uses 25# of oak and a chimney of charcoal to begin. I really only use sticks but for an Offset RF that’s great.

I finished my smoker this weekend by adding the metal to the extra shelves and added 2 3" River Country Gauges with 4" stems and gave it another pain job. I am 1000% happy with the way this thing burns. I have uploaded a couple quick videos of it on youtube. It ran for about 4 1/2 hours on just over 5lbs of lump and some hickory chunks and the temp never varied over about 2 degrees over the entire time and I never had to add any additional lump. Here are the links, tell me what you think..Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZdGdpGZps4 and Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFL_R5jKlSw

Nice! I like the shelf and cup holders, how did you get the nice radius on the shelf corners? Cup holders from where?

The front shelf was scrounged from an old offset I found in a scrap pile, it just happened to fit perfectly. The cup holders I got at Walmart in the boat section for like $.99 each. You can't really see it in the video but I also added a utinsel hanger under the shelf. It is a $6 shovel hanger. It worked out great. Lol

But it does look good. Although not sure you'd find all that stuff in the heat of the moment. :D
