Thanks for the reply. I see my issue with the intake now thank for pointing that out. An easy fix now. Not quite sure what I was thinking when I decided on those measurements.Big T wrote:It looks like you're off to a great start and your numbers are right on the money. The intake is almost twice the recommended size which is fine but I would make 2 of them about half of your current size, one on each side of the FB so that you'll have options if the wind starts blowing in the intake. 3'' will work fine at that length so no problems there. I saw your comment on the other thread about the height of the BP so if you need any more help on that just ask. I like to mount the BP level end to end and front to back with a 2'' grease dam at the BP gap and a 2'' drain. I use flat plate with no channel down the middle or bends in it.

Ya, I’m old enough to know that I should just quit and start again another day but still to stubborn!Big T wrote:We all have days like that at some point during a build. You'll need more than an inch of clearance between the fire basket and floor of the FB or the ash build up will choke out the fire. Also an ash pan is a great feature, it makes cleaning a breeze. I'm not sure how big your fire basket is going to be but it doesn't have to be huge, these things don't require a very large fire to maintain temp.
