I have heard some of the guys say this or that about the fixed grate. I guess it will work fine as long as you can use a torch to light the coals that remain in the chute. I always dump the coals and use the old ones to light the new stuff by way of a chimney. I dump it in first then the new coals. Either way will work but I do like the removable one best.
