The way I understand it, if you can haul something on your trailer it needs a tag, if you can not it doesn't need a tag. So, a BBQ trailer is exactly that, and no tag, but if you put a 4 wheeler on it, yup Gotta have one
I live in NV and i knw the sheriff and highway patrol we BBq all the time
and they tell me no on tags because it called a towable tool. like a welder, air compressor
etc. so a towable smoker should fall in that catagory but that is Nevada NYE county.
WARNING!!!
My rubs and sauces have been tested on animals!!
FYI-here in Floriduh,ANY trailer needs to be tagged. If it's OVER 2000bls it needs to have a title as well.If it's UNDER 2000bls,all you need is a tag.
I am building a trailer for my soon to be built 120 RF,as a home built trailer, all I need to do is bring it to a certified scale(certain car junk yards or a metals recycling yard)have it weighed, bring the certification, drivers license and a couple dollars(less then $100) and viola, they give you a tag.No red tape or BS.
GOD I LOVE FLORIDUH!!!
Welcome to NJ....home of the paperwork increase act...
Years back, it was a simple process fir trailers even home built. It means money to the cigar boxes at the dmv and more money if it's commercial, if you make it yourself, notarized letters from the maker, etc Etc. Years back when so many vintage cars and motorcycles had no titles any more, we'd go thru titles unlimited in Alabama and for $75. You came out with license plate, title and registration ready for transfer. It mattered not where it came from....only that you could hand Something in at NJ DMV and walk out legal. Did that for 75 yr old motorcycles that had only an engine case with a number... Nothing else had any ID numbers on it.. Not sure how they do it now but remember, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar , especially at a state agency!
I'm always trying to be as nice as I can to ladies there and as a result, I can get in and out within minutes.
Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life
