Need Help

I'm having problems with the smoker I just built its a standard offset ashes keep blowing into the cook chamber I need some ideas on how to stop this I have included pics.

Are you using tuning plates? If so, how do you have them set?

I don't have any plates its just what you see in the picture a hole where the side firebox goes into the cook chamber a basic offset smoker.

That's part of your problem. You need to use tuning plates to even out the heat.

I have a store-bought smoker on my back patio (only until my build is done of course) and I used a cookie sheet bent in the middle to act as a direct heat deflector and a tuning plate. I wish I had a pic to show you, but basically I bent it at about a 60 deg angle and set it under the grates to ensure no direct flame/ash/etc came into my CC.
