Somewhat hybrid build

Post by byersfarm » March 15th, 2016, 7:25 am

This is my first build that was done around 2006. It's what I call an indirect smoker. The fire grate is on one side of the 7' 4" chamber. The cook grate slides out either end with the doors being on the end. Image

This cooker serves our lodge and stays pretty busy during duck season. My father thought of the placing the doors on the ends after cooking on wood grills for years. He was tired of working over the heat and smoke. We grill on this rig more than we smoke, but we have smoked many whole hogs on it and it performs great. It's a little unconventional as far as smokers, but it's the most versatile of the three we have.

Pretty good way of keeping things clean, all the rub and such falls on the ground.

Making memories.

As do the cream cheese and drippings. It's the dogs favorite hangout.

Yea it was crappy weather for ducks. A couple of good days there at the end when it snowed.
I've hunted all around Stuttgart. Moro, Forrest City, west Helena, Casscoe, Tichner.
I'm from Springhill, LA. I live outside of Bossier City now.
Do yawl guide hunts?

Yes we do. My grandfather moved here from Stuttgart and started guiding hunters in 1953. It's changed a lot since then. He used to hunt 100 people a day at $10 a gun.
