Reverse flow conversion

Post by GoRilla » October 16th, 2017, 7:21 pm

I have an 84 x 36 offset that I bought cheap that is on its way to a rebuild. Reverse flow conversion. Starting a new firebox tomorrow 30 x 36 x 30. If my air intakes are 3 inch how many do I need? One calc says about 5 the other says 14. Which is right? Also my exhaust is 5.5" diameter. One calc says 23" the other say 60". I'm confused.

Image. Welcome!! This is the numbers that you gave for your build, the fire box is under sized by almost 25% so it’ll probably struggle to maintain temperature. It says you need 9.5 3” intakes and the stack will be 48” tall.

This would be a better setup based off the pit calculator.Image

My firebox is 30 x 36 x 30. I accidentally typed 25. Sorry. I think I have it straight.

My bad I posted it before I changed the stack diameter to shorten some. If you use a 8” stack it’ll only be 30” long or you could use twin 5.5” stacks and they would be 32” tall.

Twin 5.5's would be perfect. As usual something came up today. Start tomorrow hopefully. This site is really great. Thanks again for the help.
