New from South Louisiana

Post by Genesaika » June 13th, 2018, 2:50 pm

Hi everyone, I'm new here, been lurking around enjoying all of the builds for a few months and finally decided to make a post. I have experience welding and fitting for cranes as I was a mechanic, I also do some blacksmithing on the side.

I've never done any smoking, but have wanted to for a while now. After looking over all the commercially available models I just wasn't happy with them. So I figured " why not put my skills to use and make something that I will be happy with and will last forever", which lead me here.

I've located a few propane tanks through a friend, 120 and 150 gallon tanks, but I'm waiting on my friend to have some free time. Since I don't have the actual dimensions of the tank yet I haven't done any calculations yet. It will be a fun build, a reverse flow with some interesting materials and design ideas, but I'll add those in my build post a bit later.

Anyways, I hope to learn a lot here and utilize the knowledge to my advantage.

Welcome to the crew.

Learning generally boils down to "Repetition or the avoidance of pain", some people learn by doing, some by watching and some just have to pee on the electric fence.

Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. Henry Ford

Welcome to the crew!

DT tanks can vary in dimensions quite a bit and still hold the same volume.
But yes he could use the gallons as the dimension. But its all good.

Good info...I don’t have any experience with tanks...just figured they were of standard dimensions for a given size. Guess I should have known better....lol

You would think they would be, right? But that would be way too simple.
